ADVICE - History?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently a first year undergrad at a uni (don't want to say which one!) studying History, but I'm really not loving it and this Christmas I'm going to consider dropping out and reapplying to other unis (obviously too late for Oxbridge...)

I applied to Durham however last year for History, but they rejected me in March. Now I think this was on the basis of 2 things: AS grades (AABC) and GCSE's (3A* at GCSE, which is 'low' by their standards).

However at A Level this summer I achieved A*A*A*A*A, and I really loved the university, it was the one I really wanted to go to.

So would you recommend reapplying, now that I have my grades? Or is it likely that, despite achieving these grades, I'll still be rejected on the basis that I don't have tons and tons of GCSE grades at A*?!

What is it that you dont like at the current Uni?

Be honest with yourself - is this a genuine problem with the current course/Uni, or just 'I think I'm good enough for Durham and I feel cheated that they didnt want me'?

I genuinely don't like the course and I'm having problems with housing too.

So, are you certain that you wont have the same issues if you move to Durham?

I am looking for something a bit more intense and academic.
