If you have an offer from them, you can ask all these things on the BarCap interns forum you know... you get the email address of every other BarCap intern if you want to keep it 'off the board' too.

My mate is getting 650 a week for tech at BarCap. They pay more than the other IBs - good place to be at.

Err, only on the internship. Because there are definitely other banks most people would probably rather work at...

I can see a lot of people working at BarCap doing graduate scheme applications whether they get the offer or not.

do you mean people will still want to work in other banks even if successfully completing an internship? whats the bad side of it?
It's not bulge bracket. I honestly believe that my application was pretty weak through lack of work experience. With an internship under my belt, hopefully more banks will look at it, giving me good reason to reapply round the bulge bracket.

The top few ib's, generally considered to be Goldman, Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch in that order although some people also include JPM, UBS, Lehman and Citigroup.
BB are generally the big American banks.
Well, basically, you aim to get into the firm that is topdog in your preferred product area/desk.

SocGen and BNP Paribas are generally not thought of as the greatest banks but if you want to do equity derivatives, between the two, they apparently cover something like 40% plus of the market.

(though that is largely down to a lot of consumer and verging on retail side stuff due to the funky French laws that allow almost anyone to buy into a derivative even though they almost certainly don't have the foggiest what they are getting into!)

BarCap is not the best bank but I think for a placement it is not a bad bank. It pays more than the other banks and is recruiting people like crazy..!

I always thought Citigroup was in the bulge bracket as well? What is the crietria to be in a super bulge bracket or bulge bracket?

Farnodr any good news yet from BarCap?
I don't think there is a strict criteria for being in the bulge bracket other than being perceived (or determined so by the various league tables/awards) as 'one of the best'.

so although barcap not the best, i suupose having a penultimate year internship with any (most) IB's is still great for your CV and gives you a chance to apply for "better" grad positions during ur final year!?

still not herd yet!! annoying
