Just had plastic surgery

 I've just had an operation under general anasthetic (yesterday morning) on my lip to correct an accident that occured when I was younger. It's seriously swollen and bruised and i have a "trout pout". I think I've made the wrong decision and am seriously regretting this now. Has anyone got any advice to either reduce the swelling or cheer myself up... I seriously feel like crap. :frown::frown: What if it's gonna look worse than it did before the surgery?! I want to cry so bad... Has anyone else felt this way post-op?

Don't worry too much; there's bound to be swelling and bruising at this stage. Leave it for a week or two and everything will be fine

Wow! Dont worry, Im sure the swelling will go down after a bit and you'll look fine! I suppose you could try some ice to see if that reduces the swelling although you might want to check with your doctor first in case it actually makes it worse! Did the hospital give you any guidelines? Try not to stress too much, Im sure you'll be fine!

Maybe ask your doctor? Rather than people on a forum with no/little practical medical training.

Relax, I think it’s supposed to look like that, I hope :embarasse

When my friend had her nose done, it looked huge. Bigger than it was before  but it was just the swelling. And now it looks nice. But if you are concerned, you should see your doctor

I haven't had any personal experience of plastic surgery, but I'm pretty sure it's supposed to look worse before it looks better. Just think what they've been doing to you. It's an injury, albeit a deliberate one to improve the way you look. There's bound to be swelling and bruising, so give it time. If it doesn't look like it's going down in a couple of weeks, then go back to your specialist.

Did they not give you any information leaflets or anything? If so, read the small print. They'll probably warn you of any temporary side effects you might experience in the aftermath of the operation.

Trout pouts dont usually last long... but if it hasnt stopped swelling in about a week or so, it might be an idea to see your doctor about having a reversal or second operation to remove the swelling

Relax, swelling goes down after a while. Just make sure you don't play with it and irritate it if that makes sense?

LISTEN TO ME CHICK! Do not panic. When I had my lips done they didn't swell properly for about 12 hours after, then it was huge like I couldn't leave the house, I was in tears. I thought I was going to look like Leslie Ash for the next 4 months. But it will go down! It took mine about 4 days to look completely normal but I could leave the house after 2 without any stares. PM if you want to know anything else. What did they use - restylane, collagen or 'pout'? Oh and the hardness you feel right now goes away too - mine are really soft and very kissable now lol
