For people who have had braces

Hiya

I'm having my braces removed today and just have a little last minute panic.

I'm just curious to know, when the orthodontist has finished cleaning your teeth after the brace comes out, are they noticably cleaner and whiter?

Cause i rang them about a week ago and they said it only take minutes for your teeth to be cleaned, and i'm just worried about having white squares on my teeth.

Only on a bit of plaster (super white) if they miss that. So as soon as you're done, ask for a mirror and check for little 1mm blobs that may have been missed. Have fun chick and enjoy the surreal feeling!

Nope, I got mine out about a month ago and there were no marks.
Enjoy.

You shouldn't have marks when the braces come off, it is one of the strangest things when they first come off

Yup the sand them down to remove to the glue. I could feel the rough patch on my front teeth for quite a while (still can a little, 3 years on) but in appearance they look completely normal.

they sand down a bit to get rid of glue. the white marks apparently depend on what you have eaten/drunk during the time your braces were on. the white means that the enamel has gone (so eventually will be dyed yellow by coffee etc when braces are gone) so if you have white marks they wont be able to clean them off.

However i had train tracks for months. drank well over a litre of diet coke a day and ate crap. my teeth were fine. so theres really no telling. goodluck

What do you mean your teeth will feel bigger then they are?

Running your tongue over the front of your teeth for the first time is amaaazing!

I didn't have any marks, as far as I can remember. It's one of the best feelings ever though when they come off!

Reply 14

nope. I had the transparent ones...no lasting effects. Well, excluding the straighter teeth effect. :P

I was worried about the same thing but I had no marks, even though drinking tea and eating so much junk food
One of the best feelings ever when they come off  agree with whoever said they look bigger as well once they are off hehe

Eat a banana, really it's the craziest feeling just after they come out. I guarentee you will be smiling for a week at least.

i had mine off about 2/3 years ago, and i had the tiniest "scar" as the dentist called it one of my front teeth, a little bronw mark, probs due to something getting caught them decaying my tooth:s-smilie: but he wouldnt do anything about it, 2/3 yrs later now and i am having to have a filling on it as it has got miels worse, moral of the story, always pester the dentist if u r not happy with something
