Allergic to the pill?

Is it possible to be allergic to the combined pill? And how do you know if you are??

I've got an awful skin rash on my legs, ive been taking skin allergy tablets and putting E45 on it for weeks and its not going away. I haven't done anything different, not changed my diet or washing powder or anything.. The only thing i can think of that ive done in the past couple of months differently is go on the pill.. Is this possible?

Would have thought that the adverse reaction would have come up far more quickly, if the pill IS the cause.

As it is, 2 months after, it's probs something else, new body lotion/shaving cream/shower gel perhaps?

Have you tried Dianette? It's a very good pill. But i recommend seeing your doctor or GP to see if the Dianette is right for you.

I guess i didnt make anything really clear. Ive been on it since the end of janaury, and when i went to stay with my boyfriend at his uni during february half term (so bout 13th feb) i noticed i had a rash then, and at first i thought it was eggs because id eaten eggs all week and hardly ever eat them. But ive barely eaten any since and its still here.

I went to docs once and he just gave me some allergy tablets to take, but its not going away..

In answer to your question, i really can't think of anything ive changed at all..:frown:

I got ezcema (sp?) on my elbow whilst I was on the pill. Never had it before that, and haven't had it since. I showed the doctor when I went for a prescription and she just added some cream to it which cleared it up. Would've thought your doc would've picked up on it though...

You might have Excema. I have this, and it sounds like you have too. If you vist your doctor they will provide you with speical creams to use. Then you will notice your rash will slowly disappear. Oh by the way does it itch? Because if it does then you definality have Excema.

It wont stop itching! My legs have actually bled they itch so badly sometimes. Im worried ill scar myself at this rate. If it is exma (i cant spell it sorry) then why hasnt E45 cream worked?? I thought they used that for exma?

I have a doctors appointment booked. I just hope hes of some assistance this time! Ive been twice and i keep getting sent away with allergy tablets :frown: Im seeing exactly the same doctor again as well..

Well ask him if you could see a dermatologist these doctors speialise in skin problems they will be able to give your creams if your GP is not helping you properly then you need to see a dermatologist. Your doctoer should then refur you to a local hospital where a dermatologist will help you there.

I have a rash on my arms so i stopped taking my pill the other day, just to see if it was related, and the rash seems to have gone..! :s:

Some people can't take oestrogen as hormonal contraception, though I've not heard of it causing a rash, but I guess it's possible. Or it could just be that particular brand you're allergic to. Tell your doctor the allergy tablets aren't working, raise your concerns about the pill and see what he/she says.
