uni society election speech?

at our university we have a hustings to be on the commitee of the Seikh society (religious thing but still organise socials etc) and basically i have to write a short speech and havent got a clue where to start or what to talk about! Also im no good with public speaking, so wondered if anyones had any similar elections and what they said?

Um, give some insight into what the society is about and how you're going to help it live up to that, why you want to be elected, what you'd do in office, what makes you different from the other candidates, whatever good personal qualities or qualifications you have that are relevant.
