Conditional Offer On Attending Summer School??

Hello Everyone..
I have a conditional offer on attending summer school, and pass a course with grade B+!!!
However this doesn't frightens me,what really frightens is the 1000 pounds for tuition, the 700 pounds for accommodation, and 500 pounds for tickets and living!
That's 2200 pounds, and certainly it was not in my plans for the budget!!
Is it possible, if i ask them, to exclude me from this condition or they are too strict and should i don't even think about it,but start preparing my luggage???

If they say you have to attend the summer school, I'm afraid anything short of an asteroid crashing on your house won't be enough to make them change their minds.

Well you need to pay tuition, you need to have a place to live (unless you're already in London) and you'd need to pay for food and the rest so it's not like you can avoid the costs anyways. Surely you factored in the costs before applying though?

Of course i thought about tuition and the rest, but not for the extra cost of summer school!!That's the problem...I have also heard that most Summer school students, come to LSE for a kind of vacation, and the environment won't be the best for studying...

hey, i have a conditional offer on attending summer school too...about the accommodation part, if you intend to stay in london for the entire summer vacation, then you can book a room at the regular rate in the hall at great dover street...that's what i did..

and if i'm not wrong, the accommodation at great dover street for the period covering 1 session of summer school is only 500 pounds.

Thanks for the info flyink, but fortunately i do not plan to spent the whole summer in UK! You see i am from Greece, and i don't want to waste this specific summer! More than ever i should have a really great summer (apart of summer school period), so as to have many pictures to remember in the tough upcoming season!! We have to make the most of it!!

i am undecided about spending it in london for the same reasons....but then someone said that I can make the use of that time to get a start on job searching, applying to IBs etc...and besides, I'm quitting my job in a week, and so if I stay here i'll get bored as all my friends'll be busy working and i'll have no company..

you're taking up msc in finance and economics right?

Yeah, i am taking up Finance & Economics! It's a very good idea to take advantage of your time in London, start your applications e.t.c.,but this is the difficult path! And as i am informed that the whole season will be full of tough paths (Studying e.t.c.), i think i rather spend my summer on vacations, getting sunburnt, and gathering energy for the season to come! Buth that's me...I wish i could follow your lead...

It's pretty true - the LSE summer program isn't really conducive to studying - people there just want to put 'LSE' on their resume, and party for the most part - as many people do party - I think about 10% of the summer school class have conditional offers - but I wouldn't worry, i don't know of one person who didn't make the cut.

Hi TakeItEasy, I'm taking Finance & Econs too! Like you, I also need to get at least a B for Advanced Econometrics in Summer School. Between Summer School and the Introductory Maths course in September, I will still fly back home for 2-3 weeks cuz the air ticket is still cheaper than staying in London!

Have you gotten your accomodation for Summer School? I am staying at Rosebery.

Hi,

I am also doing the MSc Finance & Econ, and one of my conditions is to take Advanced Econometrics in the summer school as well.

This is interesting. I wonder why LSE asks for the summer school...

What do you do at LSE's summer school? I went to a summer school at Cambridge and it was a total doss. Went out every night and fell asleep in most lectures. But I was 17 at the time...i've done a lot of growing up since then

Summer school at LSE I guess is a little bit more challenging then that thing at Cambridge- I know people who were at something like that for A-level students. The summer school he is talking about is in fact something for post-grads or Students, for that matter, and you also get assessed at the end of it anyway...

 I gotta hand it to those who are going; my brain completely switches off in summer - we only get around a month of proper summer anyway so I try not to miss any of it
