I want to go on the pill

I'm certain there's already a thread about this, so if anyone could link me to it, I'd appreciate it. The search function seems to hate me tonight though.

I want to go on the pill ASAP really. I want something which would make my periods lighter, as well as the contraceptive benefits. They aren't particularly painful (well, painful at all to be honest), but they ARE heavy.

I haven't been to the doctors in a LONG time. I'm fiendishly healthy. Can anyone tell me what sort of proceedure I'd need to do to be prescribed the pill? Is there any sort of physical exam, or would I need to thoroughly justify why I want the pill?

Nah, it's fairly easy. I didn't have to have a physical, though they did check my weight and blood pressure. The doctors have done it a million times before so there shouldn't be a problem.

Yep, what Helenia said. They take a family/personal medical history to check for things which could cause a problem with the pill, then they weigh you (might take your height aswell) and take your blood pressure. If you do start on the pill then get used to regular visits to the Doctors! At the start they usually give you 3 months of pills to try, then if you're happy with it go back every 6 months to get more.

Personally i'd go to the doctors too, but if you're worried about confidentiality (sorry not sure of your age and therefore situation with parents etc) you can also go to the Brook. I mean doctors are confidential and all but if you are under a certain age they might ask to talk to a parent or sometimes they have a habit of yelling after you as you walk out the door from another appointment "That medicine i just prescribed you can affect the pill by the way...just in case you were on it" :rolleyes:
