Hi guys just finished my 1st year at UoB doing pharmacy. tbh the new course in terms of organisation was shambles and a lot of unnecessary things were included in the course eg. Capability and reflections. No past papers available. Email queries were replied back after an eternity and in some cases, never. Also for us new 2nd years we have exams in the first week of uni to make sure we 'still remember stuff' an these are the exact same papers we sat in march. Also they count for 10% of the 2nd year average.

All in all, i would not recommend coming to bradford as there is no teaching and a big booklet is given every week to learn yourself and to be tested on it the following week. Absolute joke!

Am thinking about going to bradford uni this september, however was put off by the open day that i went to, the teachers seemed really unorganised and like there didnt know what there were talking about. Also, there said that the majority of work is taught throght the team based learning groups, and that your are put with 6 people at random for the entire year as your group. I want to know if bradford uni is all that bad? and in all is it worth going there to study pharmacy for the next four years? What is your typiclal timetable like and are there lectures? my other choice would be UCLAN. Much appreciated if you could reply back, thank you.

Yes tbh the course is very disorganised with a pointless module called capability. They make up new stuff in the middle of the year and do not have any set dates and deadlines. Most of the work is done in team based groups and just 2 lectures a week. The best bit maybe is the dispensing practical which is quite good. Timetable is very spread out. I had most mondays free( but we had to go in for capabilty stuff.. i didnt bother) 2 hours on a wed. full day on a tues. 2/3 hours on thurs, 2/3 on friday. Only had 2 lectures on a tuesday and had a week to learn two packs all by ourselves with no teaching or explanations. Past papers were non existant. Only TWO sample questions were uploaded the NIGHT BEFORE the exams. Lecturers never reply to emails. I could go on.. But if i was you, go somewhere else more reputed for pharmacy.. manchester, cardiff or nottingham. HOWEVER the social aspect of the uni is faultless. Amazing freshers week, a lot of sports and societies, cheap living, good food good shisha bars. :ahee:
