thanks!

unfortunately it is one or 2 sizes too big and we'll have to order the smaller size cause he bought the one that was the smallest size they have in stock. 8 more days of waiting!

Wow nice ring...

I dont think theyre corny, but i sometimes think they can defeat the point of an engagement ring.

Reply 5

Aww it's beautiful.

What exactly is a promise ring for these days? I thought it was like showing committment but a step short of being engaged?

Reply 6

Thats gorgeous!

I think its a nice idea, shows your commitment and how much you care for someone without going all too deep into engagement and stuff:smile:

Reply 7

Aww, what a cute idea! Does it mean that you're promised to each other forever, even though you're not married just yet.... or that you'll wait to get married before having sex? (I've heard of such rings, more commonly in America)

Reply 8

does that not demean the value of an engagement (ring)?

Reply 9

I think they're corny. But your ring is cute.

Reply 10

i don't think they are corny.. i think its really cute... plus the ring is nice... my gf just gaver me a ring for my b-day.. just 2 say she'll always be around for me whatever happens.. i almost cried!!!
i don't think it defeats the point of an engagement ring.. they are 2 different things as far as i see... a promise ring says that you'll be friends whatever whereas an engagement ring signifies wanting to spend the rest of your life 2gether

What happens if he cheats on her with 20 other women, including her mother, then shoots her dog in the head? Will they still be friends then?

Silly idea.

aww its so sweet  and th ring is really beautiful. proudly wear it. never mind about what other people would think.

Reply 13

I think it's a wonderful idea. It shows commitment. Lovely ring btw:wink:

no it's not corny. my ex and I did that too. We both bought identical 92.5% silver rings and had "... loves ..." engraved on the inside of it. He kept his ring in his wallet cos his parents would've flipped out if they saw it. I wore mine...mom saw it and went TSK TSK TSK

For us it's that we know we'll be together forever, but right now we definitely won't be planning a wedding. He just wanted to show me how much he loved me, that he'll always be here and won't ever cheat.

I was a bit wary when I saw some of the meanings it could have. But it's not the abstinence thing for us, just the promise we'll try are hardest to be together forever.

No way! It's completely different. Promise rings are cheaper, sometimes they're diamonds, but we chose not.

I don't feel engaged yet. For me, engagement is when I've got a diamond (which is why I didn't want a diamond), but I'll still be wearing this on my left ring finger.

It's a very nice ring.

The only point I can see behind them though is if you're near-enough engaged but can't afford an engagement ring at that time...

We're young and neither of us think 18 is a good age to be getting engaged. That's why we've just promised to each other we WILL get engaged when we're old enough and more settled together.

Everyone would think we were pretty stupid to get engaged at 18 and I don't really want to rock the boat, so I think this is the perfect alternative and shows our comittment, letting us be more relaxed and secure in our relationship.

ugh. this sounds American and tacky.

But he's still your EX now, so I'm not sure what the point of it was?

Not my style, personally.
