Hi,

I'm not really in your field, but anyway:

my PS was 1 page long. Basically I wrote about my background, my professional aims (although they quite changed since), and what led me to chose this particular program. Throughout I emphasized on my strenghs, and therefore on why they should take me. When reading it now, it does not seem that good, but I still got my place at LSE.

I think what's important is that they feel you are enthusiastic, and that doing this particular MSc at LSE is percieved as the logical continuation to your past experiences.

Good luck

I agree with the above, that you must write about your achievements and background to give the profs some idea about what you have done already. When you write about your professional aims try to show enthusiasm - but also try to be specific about areas of the subject that interest you and why. It shows you know the topics well - rather than just writing in general terms about being enthusiastic about business/management or whatever. Most applicants say they have always "dreamed of becoming ..... /or ... " !! so avoid this, and try to be more specific about some shorter term aims as well as the ones in the far future.

My MSc. personal statement was very "to the point". I used about 1 3/4 of a page on the things I wanted to learn in the two programs I applied for. At the end, I used a paragraph to highlight things that made me a solid candidate for these programs, and how it fit into my overall career plans. It was very straightforward, but seems to have been good enough to get a place in International Relations.
my personal statement was four pages long (about 1400 words)...

got into LSE (ADMIS) and Imperial (Management)..dunno which course to choose...
it says in the faq that its only supposed to be 200 words- is that correct? mine is about 700 and I have written about why I want to continue post grad studies, what i learnt in my BA, my Dissertation, why i want to study at the lse, my future aspirations....
Thats incorrect they say up to 1500 words is fine but there is no real limit.

Could you share your Ps?

Hi, this is a thread from 2006 and no longer active. I'm closing it. It would be better to post your own question in this forum

None of the above posters have been on student room since 2012 at the latest, so I wouldn't hold your breath...
