RAF sport

Hi guys,

I am aware that to enter the RAF as an officer you have to be a team player, especially in sport. My only problem is, there aren't really any team sports I'm good enough at to join a club. I mean I'm fit, and enjoy excercise, but don't really play football etc.

Can you help?

Cheers

You don't have to play in a team sport. It's not a set rule. Not everyone is a great sportsman, me included.

But do they prefer (forgive the spelling if its wrong) you if you do?

Well it shows team working, you don't have to be in a team that does too well, just do it to enjoy and you might find that you get better.

Jumping ahead of ourselves aren't we "future subby" considering we haven't even passed the board yet!?

Nothing wrong with being confident. Had to think up a quick name anyway.

I've never been involved in any team sports but have spent many years as a drummer and singer being part of concert bands, orchestras, choirs, and a band etc. After my OASC interview, comments were made that they were disapointed I hadn't been involved in sporting teams. However they seemed to acknowledge that I had been a team player through my music stuff and smaller things such as D of E. I guess what I'm trying to say is that they prefer you to have been in sporting teams but if you haven't been yet have been in other types of groups, try and sell that to them to show you can be a team player.
