All things Post-rock, anyone else really into Post-rock at the moment.

Some of my favourite bands I've discovered so far are Maybeshewill, 65daysofstatic and God is an Astronaut.

    Anyone recommend any?

Godspeed You! Black Emperor and A Silver Mt. Zion are two essentials imo.

sleepmakeswaves are brilliant and haven't been mentioned yet. This song is something special, possibly my favourite post-rock song ever:

I also really like God Is An Astronaut, Mogwai, Maybeshewill and others. My only problem is I find a lot of bands do sound the same so I'm always on the lookout for post-rock with a bit of flair, something unique.

Cult of Luna are a good example of what I was talking about - they're undeniably a metal band (heavy distorted guitars and screamed vocals), but they have a definite post-rock feel to them... that long, slow, orchestral sound that builds to a crescendo. Really good stuff.

Definitely gonna keep subscribed to this thread

2012 was a good year for post-rock. New GY!BE, Hammock, Athletics, GIAA 10th anniversary tour... eek
The *Ancients album was a bit disappointing though.

I completely forgot about The Evpatoria Report. Golevka is a brilliant post-rock album, one of the best of the era.
