Hey everyone, I need some help regarding my application for Optometry. I have 2 offers from City and Bradford and they both ask for an AAB with the AA being in sciences. As it stands I could only get an AAB with 1 A in a science. I don't think I can meet their offers as it stands but I have some reasons and I was wondering how useful it would be if I could ask them to maybe lower the offer?
My reason for being one grade lower was because I have dyslexia but I wasn't diagnosed until the end of my AS year. In my college all the students have a test before they start to see if they need additional help. My test results showed I needed some help but I wasn't really sure what it meant at the time (hell I didn't even know what dyslexia was). When I showed my tutor she said it only meant that I could get additional support with things like revision and making timetables. When I had my first set of exams I noticed I was struggling for time so I went back to my tutor to ask her if the test results actually meant anything significant. She replied that it was my exam technique and that I should speed up in tests. I practised and then did my second set of exams. I didn't even finish 2 of my exams this time so I went to additional support instead of my useless tutor and they had me tested. I got told that I was really slow at reading and needed extra time.
Basically I wanted to tell the uni's that I should have had extra time at the start but I wasn't given it which led to lower grades than expected. I'm not really sure how they will react but I feel really annoyed and cheated because I kept asking whether it was anything serious in my test result and my tutor just brushed it off and said I was fine. -.- Thanks in advance for any comments.
