It might just be that it hasn't cleared yet but...I put £300 of cheques/cash into my account on friday afternoon (170 cheques, 130 cash). I do my banking online and checked it today and it says I have £938 in my account and £139 available, which isn't right (for a start I have £1250 available overdraft). It seems to have registered that I have put in 300 in the balance but made the money available

Is this just down to the cheques not having cleared yet? I really need it because I'm going abroad in a few days and need to access money online (I haven't sorted out how to access money online via my account abroad yet)

Hoping it's just a case of the cheques not having cleared but if anyone could clarify or correct me otherwise, I'd be so grateful

    Thank you!

Cheques can take a few days (I think it's 3?) to clear.

NatWest website says if you put a cheque in on a Friday, it will be cleared on the Thursday. But it might take an extra day, due to tomorrow not being a working day.

Cheques don't clear over the weekend from my own experience.

When i put cheques into my natwest account i leave 4 working days for it to clear, that always seems to work.

Cheques take 3 working days to clear, including the day you put it in the bank as long as you did that before 3.30pm. As tomorrow (Tuesday) is a bank holiday your money won't be available until Wednesday or Thursday depending on what time you deposited your cheques.

Aha thanks, this has reassured me anyway. I've not used cheques in a while so wasn't sure.

Thank you also wonga? LOL. I do hope anyone who sees this thread doesn't heed your advice.
