    Dear all,

Please advise of the following situation...

When Chan returned from work he realized that his valuable Persian cat was missing from home. He placed an advertisement in the “Standard” newspaper offering a reward of $1,000 for anyone finding the cat and returning it to him. A few days later Erica finds the cat and takes it to the address engraved on the cat’s collar.

As Erica approaches the pathway to Chan’s house, she hears Chan shouting from the balcony of the house that the reward will no longer be paid. Chan had also pinned a note to the same effect on the front door.

    Advise Erica.

just read a contract book - unilateral contracts.

If Erica didnt know about the reward before she found the cat she wouldnt be able to claim it.

If she did know and has fulfilled her side of the unilateral contract then she is able to claim the reward and he is unable to go back on his promise. A simple text book should give you some relevant caselaw.
