I sometimes laugh when my parents have a go at me, i'm not laughing at them its just the subject in hand
I dont know, but i do it all the time . . .my mum says its just what i do and my year 6 teacher said it was because i was nervous (nervous of what?) hehe and yes on the odd occasions i suppose it is better than crying
I just get apathetic even when I'm not, though sometimes that happens too...
Apparently it's a form of self-defense. You laugh/smile when you're nervous to hide (even from yourself) how you actually feel.
well, behaviourly, a laugh is just crying with a smile...
I always have trouble not smirking! though I haven't been told off in a while.

In year 5 our class was getting a group ranting from the headmaster and he said he was "thrilled" to have to deal with our bad behaviour. I couldn't take the sarcasm. I burst out laughing. I had to stand outside his office staring at the fish tank every break / lunch time for a week :frown: . He had a nice fish tank though
I haven't been told very often but usually it's because I'm nervous/embarrassed, on the odd occasion I am genuinely bemused at what's being said.

probably because at school especially if you get told off you dont want people to think it bothers you but i dont laugh if my parents are having a go at me for something itd just make things worse

I do it to hide how embarrassed I am. Then the pain goes away and suddenly everything's funny.

It's simple.
When you get told off, you feel sad.
So you smile/laugh to make yourself feel happy again.
Why do you also tend to YAWN, when you see someone else doing it ?

OR IS THAT JUST ME?

My english teacher once went off on one and said 'This isn't Butlins Holiday Camp!' to a group who had arrived late.

I went into hysterics and he started screaming at me pure red.
I never used to until I went to secondary school. Getting told off in primary school was like a huge deal. Then in secondary school it was only sort of major when you were in y7. Plus the majority of teachers in my school are short old ladies so it's a bit like "Oi, shortie, I could thump you" which is therefore funny

I cry because I usually cry with laughter and if I cry they wont tell me off for laughing.

I make my teachers smile when they are telling me off, I dont know y... once a teacher even accused me of making him laugh. He was in charge of choir and I joined because i was only yr seven. I used to doss around in choir and talk alot.... anyway this annoyed him and he turned a wonderful shade of magenta and shouted crisply at the top of his voice "SHUT THE MOUTHES" and he spat in my eye and he laughed
