Out of interest, why do you want to know? I wouldn't want to presume wether you're male or female but either way it's the sensation itself which is important, not the scientific explanation...someone back me up here?

its a combination of muscle contractions and floods of hormones. the contractions cause the twitching and the hormones cause those joy joy sensations. They tend to be more powerful in a woman than in a man (and they get more of them lucky things)
