Well if you are seriously considering that, spell Switzerland right in you application.. But other than that, Lausanne is an excellent school for hospitality management, and hard to get accepted at..

I know people at the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne. I think. Well, I know people who tried to get in there...

At any rate, it's a lovely city. Almost as lovely as Geneva... hehe

And thats EHL, Les Roches and Glion.
Unless, you aint looking for a degree or something.

hey I went there because last year I wanted to apply, now i changed my idea, anyways the procedure is pretty much an american one, for the IB you need pretty high grades and the bad thing is that you have to show your 'Internationality' which isnt too clear as also if you travel a lot how can you show that? plus it is really expensive and they prefer people who own hotels rather than normal people. You should call them. The job prospective are pretty good, most people end up in hotel managment like directors, on the other hand people in glion end up in human resources which imo is not really the funniest thing on earth.... If you want ask, I have a couple friends there

why did u moved?:-s and what do you mean by showing our "internationality"?:-S are they so difficult to be accepted at? I also saw that SHMS is quite good, but it`s a private one. What do you think about it?

the good hotel schools in the world are glyon, EHL and Cornell, the thing is that first EHL is really competitive, secondly its quite a hard way, and third they dont accept that many people, they might accept you if you have good grades but its not for everybody, uve gotta got here for interviews and so on... and yeah they are so difficult but they can afford as they are the best hotel school of the world and plus job prospectives are really good, Did you call them? Whats your nationality? they want to ensure that they have an international environment (only 1/4 are swiss students) and its the only competitive school in CH except engeneering schools and medical schools... what are your predicted?

Reply 11

Ow and how many languages do you speak? Its a factor that they consider too, a guy still told me that it wasnt hard for him to get in...

Reply 12

first of all, I`m Romanian. I speak English and German (I`m having German B and English A HL in IB) I can also understand very well Spanish, even though I never learned it. I can easily learn Latin Languages like Spanish ori Italian because for example, I stood 1 month in Italy and I understood the language and after a month I started to speak Italian. But the main languages are German and English, of course. I din`t call them, but I saw on their website that the requirements for entering are not so high..I mean, grades. They say something like, u dont have to have excellent grades. U have to have good grades, to know foreign languages (to have diplomas and stuff) to posses communication skills, motivation and other qualities that really fit for their university. That`s what I understood. Maybe i`m wrong dunno. Anyway, my predicted grades are ok. At least 5 anyway. Not bellow. How did ur friend manage to get there? How many languages does he speak?)10-20?) I would appreciate if u could show me what have u spoken with the senior admission officer:smile: and thanks for replying. its very important for me. in fact, these decisions will mark my entire life!

well yeah i mean all they want is to keep the school international, u r english right? and if u speak 3 languages you should be cool with them, just give them a ring or so and if ur IB is enough there shouldnt be any problem theoretically, the problem would hav been if u were english and u spoke only English so I dont know... haha the guy just french italian and english. have you been there? what r u planning to do after graduating? The boy had some experience in Bulgari Hotel in milan, he took the IB and he was pretty good in math as i remeber but it doesnt really matter^^... I just noticed tht the emails we exchanged were only for setting up an appointment, contact them:smile:
Carvi.STUCKI-WICK at ehl . ch
It should be a fun school still)))

hey i'm an international student in England and i wanna apply for hotel mang in switzerland  I'm thinking bout SHMS
In terms of the fees and quality of teaching, I also care bout the matter of future career; can you give me an advice.
and what is the difference when SHMS is a private school?
I'm doing A2 and my predicted grades are AAD ( 2 As in maths and further maths , D in economics ) I also got a b in AS accounting. is that ok?

Reply 15

Oh well I am not sure, usually the hot ticket is that you family owns some kind of business related to hospitality, I don't think that your grades will be an issue but the procedures are pretty long in EHL, I wouldn't go anywhere else actually, career prospect are way better there than in any other place. Where are you from? Whats the school where you wanted to apply? I'd either go to Glion or EHL, some friends of mine went to the open day of the one in Montreux but they told me that the level was kind of low and it's kind of surprising as they were American high school diploma students....

If you want to get into Glion, just show them the money honey. Be careful though, It is NOT a uni. Although they make it sound like one. Université de Genève did not consider my BA degree as such when I wanted to apply for an Ma degree. however, they gladly offered me a place as an undergraduate student :ashamed2::ashamed2:
