I've always said that i'm drawn to songs which are emotional, or emotionally written (by that i mean song which you can tell the artist put their 'heart and soul' into the song, good example November Rain - Guns N' Roses)

I've just wondered if that's a rather weird thing to do; i'll say it now that i am a rather emotional guy at times; only a select few people have seen me at my worst, and they are people that i truly trust and confide in (don't bother making 'stop being such a pussy' comments, they will be deleted), have i somehow linked my emotional part of me into music?

Note; I don't JUST listen to emotional songs, but i'd say about 80% of my music collection is composed of emotional / emotionally written songs

    Probably, I do the same...

I'm now going to listen to the song you mentioned, if I like it, then yes!

The music video to it also adds to the effect, the old phrase; "when you're happy to listen to the song, when you're sad you understand the lyrics"

Note; how can you not of heard of 'November Rain' it's one of those songs which gets overplayed on radios

I don't like it, I like the instrumental but I'm more into "singing" if you get me.

no-one has told me recently, but i know plenty of guys that have that kinda attitude

Also i play guitar, and was wondering whether the fact that i can understand some of the technical skills behind some songs also adds to the effect

If listening to emotional songs makes you happy or feel good inside, what does it matter what other people think? As long as you're happy, that's the vital thing. November Rain is a great song ! Do you have any favorite albums?

Not so much favorite albums, i tend to have a broad spectrum of emotional songs don't tend to focus on one band, but right now i'd have to say 2 albums from Theory of a Deadman are quite good

I listen to songs with all kinds of moods going on but I reckon that if it came down to naming my favourite ten songs or something most of them would be 'beautiful' songs or songs that have an emotional edge to them.

I've only heard the Scars and Souvenirs album once, a friend had it playing at Uni last year but it is a good album. What about music videos, any other favorites there?

Ahh it would take me a while to think but I'm pretty sure I'd get down:

    Modest Mouse- Dramamine
    Radiohead- Pyramid Song
Elliott Smith- Waltz 2 or King's Crossing

    For starters.
