People from my old school doing edexcel could easily get full UMS whilst me doing ocr mei could only get around 90-95 even though we worked as hard.

Do unis know the difference in difficulties across all the exam boards?

There is no difference. If one Awarding Body was easier than another all schools and colleges would switch to it to improve their League Tables position. Ofqual monitors standards between Awarding Bodies to guarantee comparability.

The difficulty of one exam board compared to another is subjective. Just because you find OCR MEI more difficult than Edexcel doesn't mean every other student will too, so it would be unfair for universities to take it into account.
