# Maths AQA C1 revision - 14th January 2013 watch

1. Very nice paper, AQA have redeemed themselves after that horrific CHEM1 paper.

Oh yeah I think I did simplify the -9 + 11 to +2. You did get -9 +11 before you changed it to +2, right?
Yep
3. I think the surd question was:

7root2-root3 divided by 2root2-root3

multiplying by 2root2+root3 should have given you the answer 5+root6 after simplifying.
4. So have we concluded that for the translation one the answer was

[-3]
-2

with the word 'translation'?

Do you remember the one before that?
6. What did everyone get for the length of PQ, or was it CQ? The one where you could have used Pythagoras. I got 9, but i think i may have forgotten to square root it and out 3, i think i may have just left it as 9- not sure LOL

Unofficial mark scheme anyone? I think we've got the general gist of all the questions. Which ones are we missing?

yepyepyep
8. I got the Inequality to be something like k<1/2 and K>4.5 (If i remember rightly)

dammit, i put positive 3 and positive 2 haha

Yeah I got the same, but put my final answer as 3 after square rooting.

I remember my answer was 2/7. The fraction given in the question had root18 and root32 somewhere in the question.

2root2 divided by root18+root32 I think.
12. what did people get for the length of CP? and the length of the tangent of PQ or something??

wasn't the length of CP root34

at least i remember that was one of my answers for something

I remember getting root34 for something too

yeah thats what i got too

it was 3 over 2 translation because the equation before was (x-3)^2+2

Did that question have something to do with the tangent of the circle? If so, I think I got root34 - 5 as the answer lol.
18. Yeah I put [3 2] but not sure what about the factor theoren question??Its easy but for some reason i completely blanked out. Man I hate Maths! Aiming for a B.
19. (Original post by zakir123)
it was 3 over 2 translation because the equation before was (x-3)^2+2
The translation was from (x-3)^2 + 2 to x^2 which gave a vector of:

[-3]
[-2]

Not (x-3)^2 + 2 from x^2, which would've been:

[3]
[2]

Don't worry, I made the same mistake, it caught a lot of people out.
20. Did anybody else get 5 as the radius for the circle?
