I am currently writing up my first practical at University about generalsied transduction. I understand why the rate of transduction increases when the amount of phage added increases, but this is only true for a certain amount of phage. Does anybody know why the rate of transduction then decreases if the amount of phage increases too much (I have an increased rate from 15-30 micro litres of phage, but it decreases when using 50 microlitres of phage, and I have been told that this trend is correct.)
    Thank you :
