I have a direct quote from my textbook that I'd like to use in my essay introduction. However, I don't know how to reference a textbook in-text? (I have the full reference for the back sorted, I just don't know how to arrange the in-text reference!)

    Any help HUGELY appreciated.

You don't, textbooks are for background reading, primary journal articles are for citing.

What kind of style of referencing do you want to use?

The Harvard system is quite popular and you simply do the following:

"............................... ..........."(last name of author year of publication, page number/s)

"Happy New Year" (Patering 2013, pp. 1-2)

You can also do it like this:

Patering (2013, pp. 1-2) said "Happy New Year"

    Hope that helps
