westminster or ual?

hey,
which uni is better for a ba course in marketing ?ual- lcc (marketing n advertising) or westminster uni (marketing communication)?
do u know anything about the courses or about the reputation of either lcc or westminster? which one is more demanded?would i have more chances to get a job in marketing when havin a degree from westminster or from ual????????????

First of All LCC is the best for marketing and advertising because it has the WoW factor and its recognised university around the world! So if you wanna work in hollywood or LA or anywhere else you would stand out! :smile:

Second thing is that LCC has huge number of Links With Business and enourmous amount of famous alumni that will be keen to guide you through if you wanna start your own business!!! It may be quite rubbish for teaching and surroundin area, but if you wanna succed in the market LCC will do the job. Studyin in LCC will also allow you to get a place in uni you want for postgrad. Dont even try to apply to Westminister it is totally rubbish uni and rankings show it clearly. no offence sharan but this is true :smile:

Firstly can I just draw this to people’s attention - Westminster is spelt with one "I" and not two. Also quoted above, the LCC is apparently rubbish for teaching and the surrounding area! Not my words but Entrepreneur's, who I'm presuming is a student of the LCC; not sure if that instils any confidence in you.

The LCC falls under the University of the Arts and isn't an all round university such as Westminster - which teaches everything from the Arts, to Science to Politics etc. Recent criticism of various colleges within the University of the Arts is that it is a bums on seats, get as many students in institution; resulting in many students feeling left out and not supported. It isn't that high in the rankings - though I don't subscribe to the league tables - as they are based on spurious data obtained from things like entry level scores and research income. If you are asking about Marketing, Westminster is probably the strongest choice academically as it will have a lot more cross over from other academic departments that the LCC just doesn't have – such as it two business schools.

Westminster is very up and coming, it surely out performs UAL and probably LCC when it comes to academic research and interest in the arts anyway, it has many famous alumni and very strong industry links. Plus it's probably a bit more dedicated to its students when it comes to teaching and it's probably more selective in this area. You should visit all the places you are thinking of going and make your own decision up based on what is best for you. Good luck.

'C_D forever' I respect your word but i feel that you wanted to communicate to me through this message to make me feel like ****! So let me say...
First all all i would like to say that in fact i am NOT a LCC student nor the University of Arts! Therefore I am not biased and in favour of LCC. Since everyone makes mistakes and not everyone native language is English you shouldn't really mention how to write Westminster, because everyone knows how to! :smile:

I agree that West-U offers wider range of degrees, but this particular question was about marketing and advertising! So there is no need to mention that Westminster its all round institution! Why did u even say that UAL is low in league tables, it is much much higher than Westminster especially in arts, and it has even better worldwide reputation. Anyway I personally think that League Tables are for people who have little self-esteem and they need to fulfil their gap to feel better about themselves, but not everyone! :smile:

So i dont look at league tables in particular. I look at prospects. If someone wants to study marketing or business is it better to go to university which can offer you the possiblity to make your dream come true, rather than attend and graduate from uni which have good rep and in return all you get is boring job. For example i got offers from the best unis in the Uk for management such as Manchester, Aston, RHUL, and others but since the course structure was **** i rejected all of them and I hope to go to Keele or Arts next year to focus more on business opportunities rather than receive some ****ty paper from gd uni, which for most employees means simple nothing!--unless you want to stay and work in london(The Only place in Europe which values university rankings,the same with Tokio, and HK but they are in asia). Thats way many successful people do not value uni reputations at all and instead they work to become an employer!!!...e.g. Richard Branson,Duncan Walker Bannatyne, etc... They have never even attended uni!

Another aspect that i woud like to point out is that for undergraduate studies Teaching Quality is more important than reseach, becase who cares how well Uni is respected in their area of research where they cannot provide appropiate teaching quality to students. Reseach becomes only important when you study science subjects or want to go on postgraduate studies. For marketing and advertising teaching is more important, and i think this question was about Undergrad!

I wrote this message in a polite way, and i hope i will not have to argue about the question that was written about 2 years ago. Just Let me summarize:

It doesnt matter where you go and what you study just for God's sake dont go to Kingston University....and UAL is better :smile:
