So in the 45 minute health screening for nursing student applicants, what exactly do they do in that 45 minutes?

So I've they do blood tests for blood borne diseases and what else? Why would it take 45 minutes? Just curious ... Thanks.

They don't always screen for blood borne viruses, depends on the uni, where I trained didn't. Anyone undertaking a course where you will be taking part in exposure prone procedures has to have them, so ODP's and midwives do. They should have sent you some sort of questionairre about your health, will want to know your vaccination history and may want to give you your hep B vaccination if they give it. In the end, it's to make sure that you will not put any patients at risk from any health problems you may have or to check that you don't have any conditions the course may exacerbate.

We were just sent a questionnaire, which we sent back to the hospital, and then were asked to produce our vaccination history. If, like me you were unable to provide proof, you got everything from MMR to Hep B.

I had to fill in a questionnaire and my dr had to fill in a questionnaire too. I also had to send in a list of all the vaccinations I've had to date... so far I've been told I will need a blood test to check my immunity to measles but nothing more... I have an appointment in a couple of weeks though so not sure what they will do..
