How do you get guest tickets then?

No idea about Kings but we can buy ours from our Plodge / college intranet.

I never reveal that - given my course it'd identify me!

ChemEng through Engineering.

The only one at my college (though I know it's the same at many other colleges).

More or less the same way as everywhere else (online/buy at hall) but apparently they only release a small number of guest tickets and they are booked full a month in advance or something.

I'm Chem Eng via natsci. should I get the grades. How many tend to do that in a college then?

Newnham and you?
I'm so looking forward to it! I got the impression that there aren't that many Philosophy freshers at Cambridge each year, are there?

Downing for me.

I'm pretty dang happy as well - just very nervous about meeting the offer! I don't get the impression there are many philosophy students at all - I think the average is around 50 per year. Certainly Downing over the last four years has only given one place for philosophy per year, bar one instance where it gave two. We're a specialist breed...

There's on average probably one a college.

So, combine with the average of one Engineer a college, you'll probably be with one other person.

Wow! I've been a little worried on the music front at Newnham - doesn't look like there's a lot on at college level. What do you play?

That really is no explanation...

Wow! There were about 9/10 in the interview room I think. That's quite scary.

Llewellyn explains it most simply, and yet most powerfully.

hmm. I'm still in the dark.

I know exactly what you mean

This year, across all colleges, 53 people were admitted to do ChemEng via either NatSci or Engineering. That'll go up to maybe 60 once a few people decide to transfer at the end of this year.

It's all just friendly inter-college 'banter...' like the stereotype that everyone at Girton's been pooled; St. Johns have a reputation for being very rich and somewhat egotistical. Obviously, like any stereotype, it won't be true...there are egotistical people (rich and non-rich) everywhere, and I've never heard of anybody who doesn't think their college is the best...

*le sigh* don't hate the rich, envy them. I'm sure we'd all join them in a heartbeat if we could.

Ahh! Someone else who takes the IB?! I got an offer of exactly the same grade requirements for Philosophy, but I too have found it a shallow victory given the mocks that start on Wednesday at my school. We're doing very different subject choices I see - my highers are Music, English and History. Good luck in your exams!

Another IB person?! We are a rare species :P Almost as rare as A level people who understand the IB (sorry A level people)!
Have you done much revision for your mocks?
Eugh - those highers are pretty much my nightmare highers! Music? *shivers*
Each to his own
4 months to go! (i.e. lots of time to make up for the fail that is going to be my mocks...)
Good luck for your exams too

oops forgot to quote this in previous post:

Comparing these numbers with the 650+ admitted to natsci and i start to feel less special, XD

although its not a competition ofc, all of us here are amazing

I suppose It's quite nice to have the close-knit environment though?

Plus isn't there meant to be a new building soon?

In which part does he mention hating the rich?
