I told one of my best friend , or what I thought was my best friend, a slightly embarassing secret. I thought I could tell her in confidence , but she told all of our group of friends. They always give me a hard time about it and I am really quite annoyed and upset about it. I really thought I could confide in her , but I am not so keen anymore. I don't know whether to let it go or ditch her.

I think that it may be forgivable depending on a few things:
1. Was it something really serious? I mean if it was something that really needed to be kept secret then it's bad but if it was just like you fancy something then not so much.
2. Did she possibly think that you might have already told the friends this already or assumed that she would be able to tell them as you're all friends?
3. What were her intentions by telling; did she simply do it as a ditsy thing or did she do it purposefully out of spite or to upset you?
4. Have you talked to her about this? She might be able to explain all these questions to you.
Hope this helped!
