Apart from fapstinence my goal is to ask a girl out before the end of this year. Preferably not someone from my course otherwise that will be very awkward if I get rejected

How is everyone doing? I'm going strong, haven't really had any thoughts. Been 6 days since starting again.

hey guys, any advice on what one could do if they felt urges?

I've only started today but would love to hear what its been like for you guys.

I'm hoping I can be a bit more social at uni (in my first year) as I was very shy at school, and try to actually talk to girls I find attractive instead of chickening out.

The end of the year? Pull your socks up and ask someone out by the end of the week. Don't think, do!

I think I ought to join in with this! Not too late if I start now?
It's never too late for self-improvement. Welcome aboard. :congrats:

My advice is to clearly understand your reasons for completing the challenge. Make them so vivid in your mind that whenever you feel yourself in a perilous situation, it takes no effort to remind yourself why it's important not to give in. Know that you won't give in. Know that no matter how strong the temptation, the reasons for holding strong will always outweigh it, and then feel the freedom of not having to try.

Thanks! Haha don't mistakenly believe I have confidence.

The important thing about confidence is... it doesn't exist. Fapstinence has actually taught me a lot. The very things I had been saying about temptation also apply to fear: if you know how you're going to act anyway, then your fear has been rendered irrelevant. What matters in life are only actions. Fear's only power is in being listened to.
    That's deep man

It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me

it's like with confidence when people say "fake it til you make it". At what point do you make it? By faking it, you've already made it. If you act confident, you are confident. You are your actions, not your thoughts.

Spot on. That took me years to understand. I thought to myself: "there's no difference between acting confident and being confident," but that's not quite right. I never started to feel confident - it always wore off. So I dismissed that attitude as not working. Then, one day I realised just like you said - feeling confident doesn't matter! Who cares about 'feeling' confident? It's the success that counts.

It's not bravery if you aren't scared out your wits. Screw having an easy life, I want to play on hard and still win.

****ing alpha, you're gonna make it mate! how is your no-fap going? finding it hard? I'm coming in on 40 days very soon, nearly half way to 90, and I genuinely have no urge to fap (when I'm not horny anyway). I just had this thought pop into my head this morning - "I could fap at anytime. So why don't I? what's stopping me? Absolutely nothing. I have no motivation to fap". It was really peculiar
it's not that I have no libido, I just don't see fapping as a viable option anymore

Yes, that rings true with me too. It's not something I ever give serious consideration to anymore. Tomorrow will mark 4 weeks.

As for how I'm doing, I'm upset that it's not challenging enough. I thought it would be the hardest challenge possible - so hard that I almost wussed out starting the challenge, save for suddenly being entranced by the idea of, "if you can give up fapping on a whim, there's absolutely nothing off-limits to you." This challenge has become an exercise in giving myself reasons to love myself.
