Having got from a point in life where I had pretty much no money to a point where I have enough money that I've run out of things I "want". I can say money doesn't make you happy. What does though is freedom.
When I had no money I remember always wanting to buy flashy designer clothing so that people perceived me to be rich. I felt the need to prove to people that I was rich even though I wasn't. I was just kidding myself though. I was always miserable because I never had the latest phone or wasn't with the latest trends. However now I have the money to buy all the designerwear I once wanted but somehow don't want it. It may be because I don't feel the need to prove to anyone anything anymore. And this has made me much happier.

People are sad because they chase materialistic things. When someone finds something more than a never ending chase for the latest clothing gadgets and phone. They will be much more happy as they will be content. That's just my take on it though.
Nice post, and nice avatar-post content combination.

    No, Sovr'gnChancellor.

    Can you prove that:

    i) I've actually physically failed?
ii) I actually fully started after I only ever said might.

This is slightly pathetic if truth be told. Why I decided that actually whilst I'll try and stop masturbating as frequently as I do, I won't fully abstain.

    Hollla.

Yes. I sit down to watch some TV and there's just so many sexual references and images on adverts and programmes. I was flicking through the music channels and there were hot girls on all the videos!

    Good luck!

But your post directly implied that you wanted to be added on the list. Once added on the list, if you come seconds later and say that you don't want to take part anymore, you're deemed as failed unfortunately.

Of course I can't prove that anybody's actually physically failed or not - I just have to take their word for it.

Okay, look, if you can find our post exchanges regarding you wanting to join and post them to me, I'll review the situation and I'll come back to you with my decision. Maybe I can overturn the previous decision. But just be aware that I can't just go about overturning decisions every time, otherwise there'll be poor enforcement.

    Waiting to hear from you,

What's manly about not ejaculating? I would have thought ejaculating was one of the manliest things a man can do.
Haha, sitting in front of your computer with the door locked, away from society, beating it out to some porn while other guys are out there having sex with real women. Sounds real manly

The last time I checked, 2013 isn't the whole of existence - it is just a single year after all. It's an exercise in willpower and to increase productivity and drive. Nothing sinister or oppressive or negative about that. It's not like we're stopping it for the rest of our living lives.

I shall make sure that I will keep going, even if I'm the very last man standing. I shall make it too 00:00 01/01/2014. Only Total War of Nuclear Armageddon will even have the potential to halt my plans and that looks very unlikely (Britain is so safe from such things these days) :moon:

You will forever look up at we great men, we great giants of this year. :moon:

I believe that was during the A2 period and onwards. I guess I just wanted to focus on doing extremely well in that year and it kind of just continued into summer where I was enjoying the extra energy and extra social energy and confidence (which is especially great for a sunny summer).

I wasn't on holiday and I was alone for a lot of the time and yet I still succeeded that far. The benefits of abstaining and redirecting energy outweighed the brief pleasure from tugging and that's what sealed the deal for me. I enjoyed having sexual feelings, but not doing anything about it (in terms of tugging) and just looking at real girls in public produced an orgasm in itself and I appreciated many of the little things in life :ahee:

Keep up the good work. Just remember that for most people, the first few days/weeks are the most challenging.

In the past, I have tried implementing a reward and failure mechanism. If I was about to navigate to an inappropriate website, I would slap myself. If I consciously prevented myself from doing the deed for a day, I would reward myself. Has an approach like this worked out for any of you? I became overconfident and relapsed after a few days. It has been rather difficult to extend my no-fap stretch after that.

Alright. I've gone a month without in the past but jumping straight into a year without is a little ridiculous.

Why is one extreme or the other? Why is there an assumption that there shouldn't be any or those that do are constantly doing it? Where's the middle ground? I'll occupy that. I don't feel as though I suffer from any of the problems associated with porn that have been brought up in this thread, so I don't feel the need to completely cut it out of my life.

Besides, my comment about manliness was meant to be literal, not some kind of notion of manliness.

Well, my longest stretch was nearly 4 months (117 days) and, amongst other things, I got through such a long period of time by resetting (it was a gradual process) my reward system (dopmaine system etc). So, I had to convince my brain and body that there were better and other rewards besides tugging (this could be writing, reading up on space news, indulging in fantasies about space, reading sci-fi, exercises, sports, talking more to girls/boys - basically setting up other activities as rewards and fun).

But, I tried very, very hard to not go to any inappropriate sites at all; so maybe if you do stumble upon one, you could cancel some rewarding activity that you had planned for later on?
