Syrian Opposition Rejects Assad’s Peace Plan!

The Syrian opposition on Sunday rejected President Bashar al-Assad’s new peace initiative, including a national reconciliation conference and a new government.

    Source.
The Russian Federation sticks by her statements that the Syrian people should be allowed to decide the destiny of Syria however we do feel the the so called 'rebels' should not be so quick to reject the peace plan as it is in our opinion quite a good plan but the so called 'rebels' are being coerced by the West (namely the scandalous EU and imperialist USA) into fighting until there is nothing left so that Syria can be carved up among them for oil and other natural resources.

It is a disgrace and we demand the Western powers stay out of Syrian affairs.

The Netherlands must agree that the rebels should not reject peace talks but resents Russia's accusations and hopes that despite difficulties in securing peace now, it will happen.

Belarus concurs with the notions of its Russian allies. The outright rejection of a peace plan is not in the interests of the Syrian people, who have already suffered tremendous loss of life.

India supports moves for peace from Assad, but believes peace will be hard to accomplish so long as Assad remains in a position of power, having lost his legitimacy.

Austria agrees with rebels and condemns the western nations who have sat back and allowed Syria to burn.

Nothing less than Assad on trial for genocide is acceptable and Austria calls for substantial military support in Syria to free the Syrian people from tyranny.

The US has only supported Syria's decision to replace their authoritarian regime - we stand by the rebels and agree that Assad's peace proposal is nothing more than a last ditch attempt to curry favour in light of his looming demise.

Will the USA finally act against him or will you continue to watch our fellow human brothers burn?

Belarus would advise the Austrian representative that the USA will only act if it is in their best interests to do so, not the Syrian people.

The US cannot intervene at the moment, and though we wish to do something about Assad's government we cannot afford to enter a new war any time soon.

Belarus finds your foreign policy contradictory. The USA just stated on the issue of Iran that it would use its entire 'military might' in a heartbeat, yet now you cannot afford 'to enter a new war any time soon' even when 60,000 Syrians have lost their life?

Austria is saddened that our NATO ally will not act to prevent this atrocity from continuing.

Iran is a far higher priority as a global threat than the contained Syrian crisis. Whilst we do not wish to compare one crisis to another, from a utilitarian standpoint eliminating the threat posed by Iran is far more important than Syria.

Australia calls for the immediate deposition on the Assad regime, and the return of Syria to its people. Australia is currently investigating reports that an Australian national was killed during fighting by the Assad regime, and we are also considering new rounds of sanctions, following the last round in June 2012.

However, Australia believes that an immediate ceasefire and/or peaceful negotiations are required at the moment to end the bloodshed, and urges the Rebel forces not to throw this opportunity away so rashly.

OOC: America have a foreign policy? I thought it was just "Treat everyone who's not American like a terrorist. Invade any country we don't like. Also: 'MERICA!"

Malaysia understands that for any resolution to take place between the Syrian state and its people, both sides must concur with requests to engage in dialogue. We urge for Syrian people to capitalize on an opportunity to provide a resolution with its Government through holistic unity.
