Hello, I am just wondering if you would be asked to draw a dot and cross diagram for ions with dative covalent bonds at ASLevel such as the hydrated magnesium ion or the [Cu(NH3)4(H2O)2]2+ ion? Would this be too advanced for the first unit of ASLevel? It simply says on the specification "Draw electron configuration diagrams for dative covalent bonds, using dot and crosses to represent electrons".

    Any ideas?

Likely ones are H3O+, NH4+, PH4+, BF4-, AlCl4- and things along those lines.
