    Hi Everyone,

I have recently inherited the negatives of 3 shots of the Beatles that my grandfather took in 1962 at Speke Liverpool Airport. He was a professional photographer (he died in '69 btw) and took these particular pictures for the front page of the 'Mersey Beat', an entertainment paper.

His name was Andrew Weir (the site above states "photographer unknown".

Here are some shots of the negatives themselves:

Unfortunatley, they are in rather poor condition with some 'rippling' around the edges, although the last one attached (the shot from the paper cover) is not so bad.

Essentially, I want to know if these are worth anything, or if I should keep them as a memento or whatever. Also, if anyone knows of any good Beatles fan sites where I could get some more information, that would be great.

    Cheers,

    Dan

I, personally, would keep them as a cheeky memento. But that's just 'cos I love the Beatles, obviously. They look really interesting!

Fair enough, they are pretty cool. It's a shame they're in such poor condition really, but they haven't been looked after very well and they are just over 50 years old! Lol

    Nice post!

I am sure they are worth something but if I were you I would hold onto them. Ideally do a bit of research with a Beatles enthusiast or an antiques dealer that specializes in Beatles memorabilia for their input, they will be interested since they are portraits from early in their career.

Here's a recent story that might be interesting to you...
