Amazingtrade, please stop saying "CSS style sheets", Cascading Style Sheets style sheets just sounds really stupid and like you don't know what CSS means, when clearly you should do.
haha ... I think they call it RAS Syndrome. (Redundant Acronym Syndrome)

    css for the layman

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/plain/

One website - 4 skins...with exactly the same content regardless (personally I prefer alabaster but many members prefer the original classic GOO and of course the newbie default is now brunel - the members who accessed the site via NTL digiboxes pioneered the plain skin and of course the god-like Jim Lynn )
(and of course with the plain skin as a member you can apply your own Stylesheet to the entire website - god I love hootoo )

xhtml is a stricter version of html that is an xml variant. Basically the goal of it is to have a more rigid structure and eventually phase out all formatting to CSS. It's almost identical to html, just with less elements and a few extra rules to remember.
You should learn (x)html and CSS, not one or the other, because that'd be silly.
