I got into Oxford to study Maths at Keble, with an AAA offer which I think I should get but, the thing is I'm thinking about doing Engineering instead and would love to swap courses. I don't know if I should ask now, well in advance, or wait so they won't withdraw my application because I'm not comitted enough. Do you think they'd even let me swap courses?

This is a difficult one. I'd say if you let them know now I can't see how, legally, they could withdraw your offer, but it won't go down well with your Maths tutors. What usually happens when people change course (and it happens reasonably often) is firstly you talk to the tutors in your subject, they'll then talk to the tutors in the subject you want to change to. Then the tutors in the subject you want to change to will talk to you, then if everyone is happy you change course. Obviously there's no guarentee that the tutors in the subject that you want to change to will accept you but they usually do. Personally I'd wait till you got here. Good luck getting the grades.

I so wanted to apply to Keble for Maths, but because of a sudden whim applied to Magdalen instead. I hear Keble is notoriously oversubscribed for maths, how many people were there at the interview?

My elder brother did engineering and one of his professors actually did his bachelors in maths and only took up engineering for his postgrad studies, so that may be an option.........

Thanks for the advice Davey_Boy, I guess I'll leave it till I get there, if I get in .

ChilL yeah there were a lot of people there, so I'm surprised I got in, I actually got into the Maths & Stats course, which had even fewer places I think.
