What Do The Scots Think Of The English?

I am currently making some ideas for an Animation project we have to do. We can use alot of things, but with Ani, you have still frame them at 26 frames per second, well thats my tutor has said.

Anyway, I was thinking of animating a football, and letting it speak. It would be a Scottish voice, and the idea was he can have a real blast at the English, whinge about their PMs etc. But Im not sure of what the Scots dislike about the English.

What do the Scots hate of the English?

Another idea I was thinking of was having a football match on Subbetteo, adding commentary etc. The football animation one was something which my tutor suggested.

Any tips/advice

Thank you

More importantly, who cares what the Scots think?
The Sweaties are jealous of us, which is the root of all their hatred. They are especially jealous of our football team

That might actually be true if any of us (with the exception of a few semi-retarded pseudo-Irish sorts) actually hated fine people of England.

However a diet of Daily Mail editorials seems to make you think we'll all knife you as soon as look at you.

The fact is that 10% of Scotland's population is English, we probably meet someone English every day, some of us have accents that couldn't be separated from that of an Englishman if you tried, we travel through and to England on a regular basis...

If you really want to find something we don't like about you lot though... um... a few invasions and the fact you can't get a decent Scotch pie down south.

im english an for the last 8 months have been living in aberdeen. the general opinion i have gotten from living here is that most scots like 'friendly banter' towards the english. they bring up the fact that i am english quite alot but in a jokey way. its only the minority that seem to really hate us (it dont help if their drunk either as my m8 found out lol) but yea i like them, and im pretty sure that most of 'em secretly like us back altho they will keep this bottled inside.

one fing that worries me slightly about scotland tho... why dont the chippys sell cod? :s
The really major thing we hate is in the sporting world. Whenever a Scottish team/person is doing badly, they are termed 'Scottish' but when they win something they become 'British'. Since much of the world (USA in particular) views England and Britain as one in the same, our athletes suddenly become English. Then you have the denigration of Scottish sport as a whole, despite the fact that it punches well above its weight for a country of our size, indeed one which is often overlooked in terms of funding (another point of contention). Finally, the English never stop banging on about their athletes when they win something (1966 being, of course, the main culprit). While we don't mind the fact that they won (incidentally, statistics show that most Scots now support the English in competitions where their own compatriots have been eliminated), the fact is that they do bring it up far too much. It's not the winning we don't like, it's the arrogance of some English people (particularly in the media).

And then of course you have the historical reasons, such as Jacobitism and the like. If we started on that we'd be here for hours.

I agree with most of the above. Let's look at mediocre English atheletes that get far too much media attention, I can think of two off hand:

Tim Henman and David Beckham

Then there is the fact that the greatest snooker player that ever lived is Scottish, but Ronnie O'Sullivan, who has won no more ranking titles than say John Higgens or Mark Williams, again gets hyped up by the media. The English media seems to pick English athletes to love and hypes them up, when they are average at best. They NEVER do that with Scottish sportsmen.

You know, a lot of people say this, but I've watched quite a few sports in my time and I've never actually seen it done in any real way.

Can you imagine if we'd won the World Cup? We'd be going on about it ten times more than they do...

Just as equally loved and hated in England as in Scotland. One of my ancestors fought for the British Army at Culloden according to family legend.

Um, because it's ****e?

You might find a few that do, but yeah, we're pretty much a haddock nation.

Why don't you lot understand that a 'fish supper' is convenient shorthand for fish and chips?

Actually I think you'll find that ITV and the BBC broadcast to ALL of Britain not just England, so while I say the English media, I mean the media based in England that is supposed to representing the UK, but all they care about is England. If you were Scottish and had to listen to what some of the commentators had to say during the English matches at the world cup you'd be somewhat annoyed too.

To be fair, if you ever actually produced a sportsman of note, they'd get attention like Andrew Murray. The problem is you're all too busy fighting, getting drunk, beating your wives and being short to have any worthwhile sportsman make it. When James McFadden is your shining light of sporting excellence, you know it's time to give up the ghost and accept your country is rubbish.

Well it would appear from this thread that rather greater numbers of English people have a problem with us, so perhaps you could incorporate the fact that while we're assumed to like moaning about you, the fact is that it's all a load of tosh.
Yes, because of course this thread is completely representative of the greater public opinion.

The truth is the Scottish hate us because they are jealous of our land of milk and honey, and we don't like them because they hate us. The whole dispute carries on because of the Scottish. We get on fine with those nice Welsh neighbours of ours to our west, it's just you lot that seem hung up on enjoying our failures.

Someone sounds like he needs a hug anyway...
u aint yet as bad as america but take rugby for example - as soon as u become good at it its all u talk about and u assume a superior position which is why when u lose matches in six nations the other five go crazy!

i think most scots perceive u as a bit cocky - again not quite on a par with USA
The Sweaties do hate us. Live with it, we've learnt to. We take comfort in our relative success compared to your rabble up north

LOL! They'll probably find nessie before they find a decent Scottish footballer.

You're exactly the reason we slightly remorse English people. You've basically got an entire thread demonstrating that we don't actually hate the English, and then you come along, prejudiced and a smug bastard and we remember why we harbour that wee bit of gratitude that we were born Scots.

As for your comments on 'getting drunk', 'fighting', and 'beating our wives', I don't think you'll find it's the Scots that almost every resort abroad have a problem with.

And you might find your dick before you find a brain. And that's a huge might.
