Well ums is the overall points you get for the as/a2 level and actual marks are for each individual exam or btec you do. So for exam if you get like 50 marks out of 80, you'd get something like 70 ums out of 120 ums (depends on what exam) and you get 45 out of 80 which is like 63 ums and and other exam in the same subject is like 72 out of 80 which would be like 110 ums. So imagine these are your scores and you add up the ums marks, not the raw marks so you'd have 243 ums. With this score you would have your final grade where you pin it against the final grade boundaries to see if you have an A, B, C, D, etc.

So hopefully i helped as i just waffled a bit lool, but you should have a general idea now.

Way better than micro, did DRQ before MC and did it the other way round in micro. Spent half an hour on the 25-marker this time and 20 mins on the MC, because I was so pushed for time at the end of micro.

How about you?
Sorry about late reply; yeah actually I didn't mind it that much! I thought it was better than micro as well.... I got a B in micro so I was pretty chuffed with that, and it was only a few marks from an A so it will add on to my marks from Macro - I'm not an overly "economics" person but when I went for an interview for Uni they said they'd like me to do a subject that wasn't quite so Language based because im doing History/French/English so I took up Economics and Accounts..........!!!

Raw marks you get in an exam are scaled up to a mark in UMS. UMS is based on the whole set of students taking the exam, and represents a normal distribution - this means that only a certain percentage will get the top or bottom, most students will be in the middle when it comes to marks. It equates people based on how they did compared to the whole year, and awards points based on it. The grade boundaries for raw marks in a paper will vary from year to year, but UMS grade boundaries are always the same. Hope this makes sense...

Done
English Lit/Lang ELLB3

Remaining
Psychology PSYA2
Psychology PSYA3
Psychology PSYA4

I'm actually ready for death, seriously.
I must get a C from Psychology and it's not even relevant to my prospective Uni choice. How annoying!
