I did the OCR Salters titration practical last year - I personally don't see how titrations would involve tonnes. Could you explain please?

Yes, I've seen calculations where you are given industrial quantities and expected to know the relationship:

1 metric tonne = 1000 kg = 1,000,000g

... but only in theory papers.
