drugs in general

i dont smoke or do any drugs, i just drink alcohol.

i was just curious as to what the effects are of using drugs such as marijuana on the odd occasion?

also, what are the differences between the effects from drugs and the effects from alcohol?

because i know you get high on both, but dont know about the differences.

also, i was wondering about how many people who dont smoke but do drugs??! any ideas?

anyway, cheers for any information.

most people would agree that smoking canibis occasionally has no real long term effects. the nicotine from tobacco you probably inhale as part of it is addictive tho.

which is my main point: avoid things that are highly addictive.

if it wont kill you and wont get you addicted whats the harm?

so yeah. effects of cannibis usually involve a head rush to begin with, then a sence of completeness and contentness, often get the munchies, sometimes you might get a little paranoia, and as the effects ware off you feel a bit drowsey.

mixed with alcohol it generally just enhances the effect of both the alcohol and the weed.

marijuana is ok but boring. If you eat it you're not putting carcinoges into your lungs and is much more intense and trippy. Just try to satisfy curiosity but stay safe - know what you're doing.

Weed makes you quite relaxed and you tend find things funnier than they actualy are. If you take a lot then nothing will seem real and you will sort of trip in and out of reality like waking up from a dream. Much to much and you will whitey which is not nice (bit like to much alcohol). In general weed makes you calm and has simalar effects to alcohol but some very differnt ones. As a drug i would say it is about the same level as alcohol.

Apart from the tabaco in a spliff it does very little dammage apart from making you lazy and a small amout of memory loss. These effects only happen if you do it all the time.

Smoking a spliff will never do any dammage to you. It is only when you talk it up as a hobby that negative affects become apparent.

I used to smoke all the time but now i only do it occasional mainly because of exams and cost. It is realy not a problem stoping smoking it.

You serious! Eating dope just makes you go to sleep or puke! Trust me

Drugs are bad mmmmmm'kay

But seriously, nothing really wrong with social spliffs. Though different effects for different people with some finding themselves relaxed and others almost sea sick despite the amount.

This isn't true of all drugs though, some are highly addictive and can kill first time round. Read talktofrank.com or w/e it's called as it's pretty comprehensive.

Different effects for different people, a lot of people find this preferable.

do whatever drugs you want! as long as you're mature, drugs can be fun! take whatever: ket, pills, mdma, speed, base! they're all fun! just avoid the scatty ones like skag, crack and meth, im not a big fan of coke either, anyone who takes that regurly is a mug in my book and **** right off!
the most common drug used by people i know is cocaine - cannabis is common for teenagers to try but most people realise its rubbish and get over it. most people in clubs seem to do more sniffing than pilling

^ depends what club, R&B, cheese and garage then yes, 'proper' dance music like DnB, and Hardcore everyone will be pilling (which is better than coke, never do coke rugurly! i hate people that need to take it when they're out, even in crappy cheese clubs!). Infact, at hard house events a lot of people take ket, which is just plain anti-social imo!

i think it would be proper to point out that ALCOHOL IS A DEADLY AND DRUG. and research proves that coming off alcohol addiction is just as bad as coke addiction!!

PS: i'm getting tired of this jenn person who seems to be frank, terrified of these big bad drugs. No matter what people say, the fact remains: drugs have roamed across the globe for millenia.

everyone is allowed to have their own opinion, so to be frank **** off!

p.s. sorry everyone about the bad language!!
i don't smoke, but i do do drugs. i have never really liked smoking, and never got hooked on it however much i DID smoke when i was younger - i don't think i have an addictive personality at all. which is a good.

doing drugs and being drunk feel totally different!

I used to smoke weed a fair bit but then it started bringing out weird OCD / Tourettes symptoms on me, wherby, I'd get al twitchy and have to do / touch things. Freaky. I don't do it anymore. Never did anything harder than weed, probably coz I'm scared rather than any moral reasons.
mmm drugs!

Well, most cannabis users might to comfort themselves, I wouldn't know...

But in science - the jury's still definitely still out there.

Something doesn't have to be addictive to be capable of having a long term effect - even if most drugs of abuse might be.
(& there is some suggestion cannabis does lead to 'dependence' at least, see Lichtman et al 2005 or withdrawal - so could be addictive in a withdrawal avoidance sense in a subset see Haney 2005)

& although 'long term effects' might be highly dependent on existing host characteristics (in a fairly catch-22 manner!), there's plenty of discussion of real potential long term effects of cannabis without necessarily indulging in heavy use (Learning & Memory, Neurovascular Changes & Mood/Personality changes would be the key area - Cancer is more confounded by polydrug use).

these discussions are invariably BS - it's the mummy's boys who've never even had a coffee versus keen psychonauts pretty much ignorant of science. Nobody wins.
Reply 16
i dont care about the science! i know what i need to know.

I hear if you take a fair amount of antidepressants when you're feeling normal, you can get quite high/happy.

I know it sounds really kind of hippy and cliche, but some really do open up your mind, and I dont just mean when you're 'high'; I look at a lot of things differently now and notice and appreciate things I didnt before.

Screw saying that sex makes you a different person, I would say drugs have a much more life perception altering effect. Hope I'm making sense :p:
