I got 342 but I got 37500

Do you not do 1250X30?

1 In 30 have the genetic disorder

1250:37500 is 1:30 ratio

It was 1 : 200
don't be too complacent kid. you might end up with an E
For percentage increase I got 342% or something
then I changed it because I didn't think it could go past 100% so I swapped the two numbers I divided by and then x100 to get a different answer :/

Because I did: (144/42) x100 = 342% or something like that
Then I thought that was absurd so I did: (42/144) x100 = 29.16%

I am so confused I didn't know percentages could go above 100% for percentage increase!! :bawling::bawling::bawling:

Maths questions
6.9 for the index of diversity
250000 for amish
6 in a minute for insects
342% increase
Also, the spiracles opened on 4 and 14 seconds.

This means they open every ten seconds, and 6 times a minute

%diff was 429%
But are you supposed to removed the original 100% from it?

Percentage difference is calculated as follows

High value-lower value=Difference.

(Difference/Lower value)*100=342%

That is what I got.
For the advantages of courtship with long tails I put

1. Increase chance of mating to product offspring
2. Reduced chance of long tailed snake being susceptible to predation

I think point 2 may be wrong but not sure

What was the answer to why it is better that the males mate with long females

Original post by Goldn
it was clearly 6 it repeated every 10 seconds

16-4=10 seconds for every 2 times (spiracles open)

60/10= 6 times the spiracles beat per min

Is what I did

Question 1
a) Centromere
b) joins to spindle fibers in metaphase and pulled apart in anaphase
c) different alleles
d) chromosomes not replicated into sister chromatids as figure 2 is prior to synthesis.
e) 3 chromosomes- 1 from each homologous pair( ie. one long,1 medium and one short)
f)crossing over

Question 2
a)similar organisms capable of breeding to produce fertile offspring
b)6.9 something
c)destruction of plants and growing of 1 dominating crop means less food sources, habitats for insects and use of pesticides

Question 3
a) groups within larger groups with no overlap
b) groups based on evolutionary relationships
c) animal A because least difference in amino acid sequence therefore DNA similar as DNA codes for amino acids
d)same number of differences however may code for different amino acids
f)hemoglobin not found in all organisms while respiration occurs in all

someone else continue

for 3C I wrote it was beacuse you arent directly comparing Animal B and C so you cant really tell how similar they are.

Nope, it said that 30 people colonised the new area. 1 in 200 had the disease.

d)cant remember

some one please quote me and continue...

All my answers match with urs except for part 1d I out the chromosomes are in meiosis 2 while the first figure they're on meiosis 1 is that right ? 😢

what did everyone get for the percentage increase and the Amish population?

I got 342% and 250,000

i got 442% or something.

in the snakes i'm pretty sure 1 question was about how the male shows less courtship behaviour to shorter females and filter paper with shorter lipids on them. (the bar chart)

the one after was trying to make you state the relationship between the longer females producing more fatty acids which initiates courtship behaviour.

why the garter snakes don't react to other female species who also produce fatty acids on their skin was to due to the fact they have different fatty acids? (got this one wrong i think now, i should've said about how courtship behaviour is specific to species etc.)

also i said you could intrapolate the line of best fit to find values to estimate the courtship behaviour towards females of 75cm or something.

btw for phylogeny i said something along the lines of: 'share a common ancestor' is that a mark? =(

well the exam started out ridiculous for me because i caved to exam pressures and made a stupid error like thinking the exam would be over 30 minutes early. so i rushed straight to the end. grrr.
