when your changing strings, there's this thing you can buy - you put it on the tuning pegs and twirl it round, makes it real easy

anyone know what it's called?

Peg winder I guess...
Planet waves do a really good one with wire cutters on the other end.

Peg winder was close, but it's called a string winder.
So useful, beats turning machine heads for ages

Aye, it's a string winder.

I always use one; they're especially handy for acoustics because they usually have the cutaway in the end to allow you to pull the bridge pins out easily.
