Well if it's anything like RAFC Cranwell, then look to be able to do 1.5 miles in under 10 minutes.

No doubt you'll get sent information about required fitness levels and the like though, and I guess you'll have a Fam visit too.

Should you fail, you may be liable to immediate discharge.

Nice, they mustn't be into the whole remedial training thing.

Be good to get a diary from someone attending BRNC. Yes i agree it does seem more RAF then RN.

You seem to have a got a place not long after your AIB. Is that normal for the navy?

Thanks Jon

It will pick up the more people post. When this forum was first started there wasn't one Navy or Army applicant. The more posts there are to do with the Navy and Army, the more it will get picked up by search engines.

No not really If you achieve a good score then you are selected first.

Everyone goes into a large pot and the best are selected first, I know some people who passed AIB did not get selected and they had to re-apply again a year latter (If you are not selected within a year of passing AIB you must apply again)

According to my AFCO I "Passed with flying colours" Not boasting of course LOL.
You should get a list of what you need to bring, that gives you a good minimum. If you haven't received anything like that yet, get on to your AFCO and they should be able to point you in the right direction. I'd tell you myself but I went through in 1986 and things have probably changed a bit since then. If you are regularly running a couple of miles without any problems then you probably are reasonably fit. The PTIs will expect you to do more than just running so make sure you have established a good all round level of fitness. Good luck and make sure you enjoy it

Hi Folks,

well 4 weeks today is the day I am off to BRNC. Just had some photos done and finished off the millions of forms ( ok, slight exaggeration but there are lots) they ask you to fill in before joining.

I am also writing an essay all about me and still training for the fitness work. Currently I am running about 8 miles a week, swimming and attending the gym do you guys think this is ok? My running is very strange, if the 1.5 miles is all up and down hills I can do it within the time however if it is on the flat I really struggle, any advice?

Thanks again for all your help and I will try and keep you guys updated as much as possible.

Lol, yes, very strange. Perhpas it's something you're unaware psychologically, that when running up hill you're really pushing for it and down hill you're slacking off. If you can make it in the time however, don't worry too much about it; they'll get you fitter and faster when you get there.

you need to do all of the above to apply.

Given the age of this long-dead post, the OP may well be near the end of a short service commission!
