That's cool, good on ya for trying to get some experience before uni  you going to be doing aero as well? I've got through to the assessment centre for an industrial placement so I was just wondering if anyone had been through it and had any tips. From what I've heard from my mates its an absolute beast (but then again most are I guess).

initially i wanted to do aero then i thought the current aero climate isnt too stable and i also didnt want to restrict myself to one specific type of industry i wanted variety so im applying for mechanical eng instead. I probably wont get any more w.e now as most of them that i saw tend to be at the beginning of the year or mid of the year (summer time). I will though at uni try to get one anyway whilst in first year which is usually not recommended but then again it wont be a full internship(6 months or more) so i guess it wouldnt hurt to get at least 1-2 weeks worth of experience but i'll see

But i would imagine having an internship at R.R would be quality!! They have a site in bristol looks aswome.

Does anybody know how long it takes for Rolls-Royce to answer? I've applied for a summer 2013 internship, but haven't heard back yet.

Or, does anybody know when assessment centres are held? My research shows that for internships it's just online application > assessment centre, so it could be helpful

It goes online application > initial review > psychometric tests > second review (detailed look through CV) > assessment centre. It took them 3 months to get back to me after I'd passed the psychometric tests but that was back in October.

I've heard you have to do a presentation about a topic they give just before the assessment day. You also work in a team to build something where they assess how you interact with people. Finally they give you another assessment for logic and reasoning.

I'm at the application process stage, submitted in December, haven't heard back from them yet. How long did it take to respond to your application process, and how did the whole thing go for you?

After the psych tests it took them like 3 months. They did tell me they reply to everyone though so I guess you've just got to be patient. I've got the assessment centre later this month and I'm bricking it!

Can I ask you what were the psychometric/aptitude tests? I know what they are in general, but are you able to tell me what exactly they test? I'd also appreciate the type of the tests, e.g. analytical reasoning is sometimes analysing charts and sometimes symbol patterns and questions 'which one is different from the rest?'

Does anyone know how RR tests look like?

I'm not sure how much I should say but the gist is they'll be testing basic mathematical and reasoning skills. It won't require any specialist knowledge but the volume of questions can be quite high so you have to stay calm and work through them methodically.

If I remember right, analytic reasoning is the one to do with patterns and the maths one is statistics and charts.

I don't want to say any more than that in case I get in trouble  try some of the practice tests online, they're quite similar. Also. RR give you a set of practice tests from the same provider when you get invited to take the tests so they help.

Morning is presentation on why you want to work for Royce's/interview about your past work experience.

Mid morning is group activity.

Afternoon is technical interview, asking about engines, focusing on modules, going to component level.

You're not expected to know a Gas turbine engine inside out, but we're looking for the ability to pick up ideas, and use common sense to come up with answers as to ho bits work.

Do it, if you want to work for them, it's a pretty good way in door, providing they don't mess up, interns mostly get offered jobs after they finnished their courses! Plus it's nice having a wage for a year too!

There is a lad in our office who started Uni full time, came in as an intern, then royces offered him a full time job, and to pay for him o finish Uni on day release.

One question do RR allow long holidays once you are working for them (ie 1month) ?

Hi I have applied RR Engineering summer internship for 2017, just want to ask did their email (the one sent out after you passed the tests) said the second review can take up to 4 weeks in your year? Thanks because I have been searching online and I could not find anything... :P
