Hi, I'm just wondering if the topics my teacher for classical civilisation AS are good. We follow the AQA exam board. The first unit is The Life and Times of Cicero and the second is Homer Odyssey.
I have no idea what they're like as I have never studied Classical civilisation.
I am in year 11 at the moment and I will be attending a Catholic school so Latin/Classical Civilisation is very important at the school.
Please comment on the topics as it would greatly help me.
Thanks.

Homer's Odyssey is by far the most popular classical civilisation topic! It's a great text, enjoyble to read and a pretty straight forward exam. You just need to be really familiar with the plot and themes. I can't comment on the other topic, sorry

The Odyssey is truly an epic poem. The language and 'storyline' is brilliant. The only issue I found when reading are the many different Greek names. Some of the events may confuse you or not make sense. I would advise you read The Iliad first which occurs before The Odyssey. It will make it much more enjoyable and easier to understand.
