Are you fed up of trying to rep someone and you cannot because you have used too much rep in the last 24 hours?

Can't we have a rollover rep system where if you didn't use it, the rep rolled over to the next day so you could rep two posts?

and

Couldn't it be a day starts on Monday at 00:00 and then all the reps reset at Tuesday 00:00? so if someone repped at 8pm they didn't have to wait until 8pm the next night?

discuss the reping system

I think the system should be removed completely. I'm sure everyone can build up their own opinions on the people posting and whether they are an asset to the board or just a pain in the arse without the assistance of a few gems.

I think it would be better to have a timer, yes. New rep at 00.00 everyday. Yet, I do disagree with the system completely.

Good call.
Ditto.

It has become so utterly abused that it no longer fulfils the (questionable) role it was intended for.

We should also disable post counts.

NO WAY!!!!!

1. no post counts - then what goes in my sig
2. no post counts - then how do we determined status titles?
3. no post counts - then how do we know who has posted the most?

1. something else something smaller?!
2. do we need status titles? and they could still be there just with the precise post count hidden
3. does that matter? I think not.

1) something a bit more intresting
2) length of time
3) we dont, thats the point, no stupid spamming just to be "above" others.

I think both post count and rep should be abolished.

I agree with katy - time is a better indication of contribution to the forum and status titles should be decided by that. Byb3, for instance, who is not on the first page of the members list, is muc more respected by most members than many of those with post counts more than his. The same goes for many members such as chicken and loftx.

I agree that time is a good judge, but people can tell that from that "Joined:" variable. Better to just allow everyone to set their status title to something of their own choice; like most boards do.

If we got rid of post count, then there would be benefits (ie. no more bono), but I think that, unlike rep, it does serve a purpose. I'm against getting rid of it.
