The Student Room Group

Fabric, London

Hi! I really didn't know where to put this, but figured this will probably be the best place! :p:

Basically, I'd like some info. on the club, Fabric... it's my boyfriend's birthday at the end of the month and we don't want to do the same old thing! His brother has been and said it was amazing, I just wondered what everyone else here thinks?

A few things in particular I'd like to know; Best day/time to go, price of drinks, age (over 18s or 21s?), atmosphere?

Any input appreciated

friday night is just about always drum n bass with some other less intense kind of stuff in the other rooms, such as dubstep and breaks. saturday isnt my kind of music though so i have never been on a saturday.

last friday of every month is my favourite night to go, just because it is now progression sessions night with ltj bukem dj'ing in room 2 and (normally) dj hype in room 1. this night is usually the most busy night of the month due to it being pay day for most of london. best to book tickets so you can jump the que if you arrive before midnight. if you dont have tickets and show up after 10.30pm then the que might take about 90 minutes for you to get in.

drinks are expensive, but standard for the big london clubs, eg. £3.50 for a bottle of stella.

heavy sound system  .
I've heard lots of things about the sound system... the bass is under the floor isn't it? It sounds excellent

Well I was thinking that if we did go we'd go on Friday 26th May! Tickets I've found are £12... I thought they'd be more than that!

Thanks for that.. if anyone else has anything to say about Fabric, please do!

there's no dress code either, so you can dress as a rabbit.

I own tons of the Fabric mix CDs but have never been.. I thinks you shall enjoy yourselves though, it looks well good.

Yeah Fabric owns, I wish I had enough money to go often.
Hey mate,
Here is a promo code for Fabric 2012, "ALEXUCL" if you keen on giving it a try. Buy your tickets online, and it should get you and your mates a discount and you wont have to wait in a queue.
Enjoy! It's the best club in London
Fabric's cool. I don't go very often cos it's always very crowded and cos it's such a famous club it attracts a lot of bellends to it, but the music and the sound are top notch, if you've never been before it's definitely worth going at least once.

Awww, that's nasty! My little sister used to spit on me and my mum was quite lax on the punishment :s-smilie:

I punched him in the arm, really wanted to do it in the face but he was the kind of guy who would probably punch me back. He was such an ********! He was going round the club like pissing everyone off. Absolute knob, never in my life have I ever been disrespected like that by a bloke, disgusting. All of the foreign men in there are so scummy and disrespectful they just grab what they want! Really put a downer on a good night.
I only really do saturdays at fabric as I love house/techno (fridays are drum and bass so not for me). The sound system really is out of this world, great music/djs, lots of wide eyed teenagers and tourists, was very hot the last couple of times I went but I heard it was something to do with their air con breaking or whatever- something like that. Drinks very expensive but most people are on other recreationals so stick to water. Try to pick a spot to dance with all your friends so that you can find them if anyone gets lost, it's a maze in there if it's your first time.

Have fun!

It's brilliant, but you will get lost!

You won't enjoy it. You gotta proper be on clubbing to enjoy it.

I went Ministry with a friend who doesn't really like dancing and it didn't work. Some clubs are to socialise, dance. SOme are just for hardcore bouncing like Ministry.

This was originally posted in 2006 :/. It's a great club if you're into proper dance music (and let's be honest, pills), but if you're the sort of person who loves it when they drop the new Chris Brown track in Oceana then it ain't for you.

well this might be a late response but Since times have changed since '06 I'll provide a little info about today's fabric.

It is ALWAYS 18+ and the regular nights they are open are friday, saturday and sunday.

On friday, Generally, it is hosted by FABRICLIVE, fabriclive hires a lot of live acts and MCs, hence the name. On these nights you will typically see more drum n' bass and some dubstep and believe me the place is packed! took me over an hour to get my coat back from the cloakroom and entrance fees are generally at their highest (roughly £22)

On Saturday It is hosted by the original organizers, called FABRIC. Saturdays are almost always centred around deep house nowadays although they used to play every kind of house (Hard-style, progressive, electro). These nights are not as nutty as Friday so you can expect a more chilled and club-like vibe. This is also the night that attracts the most foreign tourists so you'll see French and Spanish people left, right and center. Entrance is ussually around £18 on the door.

On Sunday, not a very lively night unless there is a bank holiday Monday the day after, it is hosted by WETYOURSELF a company that mostly appeals to GBL clubbers and they play pretty much only electro house. Also only one room will be open but you can go to the other rooms and just chill out although no music will be playing. These nights also close a bit earlier, around 3 AM so have travel arrangements ready unless you wanna be walking around Farringdon on a Monday morning waiting for buses to operate. Since these nights are so mild, the entrance fee is dramatically lower, Always below £10 (around £7 ussually) but even at that I don't think it's worth it lol.

As for drinks, the prices will be the same for every night:

£7.50 for a vodka and redbull
£14 for double vodka and redbull
£6 for a beer.. which is like half a pint, they look like 400 ml glasses to me
other cocktails are in the £8 range and £15 for doubles.

yes drinks are expensive and their highest selling drink is water....... lol i wonder why?:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Also, keep your eyes peeled for what they call "PLAYAZ NIGHT" These are nights hosted by FABRICLIVE but not necessarily on a friday, these nights have over 40 acts playing in one night and the place will be running for at least 9 hours with some of the hottest MCs and DJs in Europe. They just had their 150th playaz night on december 27th and it was off the wall!

also: yes it is a maze, you just gotta remember there are TWO sets of staircases, this is where most people get lost. One is more obvious and goes from the entrance down to the bar hallway. halfway down these stairs you will see a room to the right which is a balcony that looks over room 2.

rooms 1 and 2 are at either end of that bottom hallway, room three is actually halfway down this hallway to room 2, and in a sudden right turn, room three also has an upper balcony and leads to the other main staircase at the back, the other main staircase can take you up next to the smoking area which is close to the entrance but you wont be able to see it when you come in as its around a corner..... the place is a labyrinth but after 3 or 4 trips I figured it out like the back of my hand.
