Hi there, just curious as to where all these kids with ridiculous amounts of money go to study ,do they go to a london uni or elsewhere.im not talking about public school kids though.can anyone shed some light

I suppose it depends on what you mean. Students with wealthy parents have often had a better education etc., and so may be supposed to be able to get into the difficult universities more easily than others (all other things being equal). On the other hand, if you are talking (as the thread title suggests) about rich students who are not academically above average, then they will probably go whereever it is more expensive to study, as there will be less competition.

Durham has a reputation for this (I heard stories of a lot of students driving mercedes etc. when I applied there), but I think it's mainly untrue and I agree with the person above.

You can't generalise on this too much, but the following have a reputation for it:

Oxbridge, Edinburgh, Durham, Bristol, St Andrews.

Those are the ones that seem to attract the real public school types.

However, it's worth noting the whole university system is incredibly class bound. Go to Warwick or Nottingham or any other uni with a good rep and you'll find almost exclusively middle class people. Go to Wolverhampton or Thames Valley and it will be an entirely different story.

Don't forget Oxford Brookes. Seriously, there are soooooo many rahs at Brookes who just want to legitimately say they have studied in Oxford, whilst praying no-one asks them which college.

Yuck, seriously? What a waste of an expensive education.

Yeh, it really is true. At least most of the rahs who are actual Oxons aren't usually so stuck up and pretentious as to go somewhere just because it's in the same city as another uni. There are, of course, loads of lovely people at Brookes, but unfortunately there are just a few who tend to tarnish their reputation.

Unfortunately that's true for everywhere. What do you do then? Blank them? Selective sight and hearing sounds good.

I know someone who was boasting that their son had transfered from a Univeristy to Oxford and he was gloating. When I enquired what college and he said Brookes, I cracked up and politely informed him they were not the same! oops!

In America....its gotta be the University of Southern California...

University of Southern California nicknames: U$C...SUC....and the infamous moniker the "University of Spoiled Children."

At American football and basketball games opposing team fans wave their car keys or credit cards in unison when the Trojans play their fight song.

But they are NCAA College Football National Champions this year....
to my opinion most universities take in quite a por-potion students from independent schools. As on most independent prospectus you read says that xx% of our pupils go to oxford &cam.
