alternatively you could play longer games as black and put your oponents move into a program like deep fritz. Then you playwhatever the program plays in your yahoo applet. I know it's not technologically advanced but I know players who do it.

Everyone with a score over 1800 or so on yahoo is either using an engine or has bumped their score up by using multiple IDs or play 1 minute games. Challenge a 1 minute specialist to a longer game, I guarantee they won't accept.
Most 1-min players there play 1-min online because they are worried about their opponent playing with an engine in longer TCs. Then they often hop over to a real chess playing site e.g ICC to play proper games with proper players...no cheating going on in the sites with the good players, they actively go around looking for the cheats on these places.

I have heard of a few IMs/FMs and maybe even GMs playing on yahoo tho...they will certainly have a rating 1800+

Even a computer-idiot like me could be a champ. We have one of those chess machine things at home, I could enter in the opposition's moves as mine and copy the little machine's moves. But that would be boring.

Ah but then you can tweak up your computer and get a better 'machine' and see who's got the best one Which is all that goes on on yahoo raelly.

    Oh.

<thought she was beng dead clever>

I'm just not very good at being bad. <sigh>
