This isn't really helpful, but what is it about university that you think will make you fat?

How about all the junkfood students eat since the majority are lacking in cooking skills? Gaining weight is quite common among students actually.

Regarding the gym question, yes, there is a gym.

Check it out. Seven months for £90 it seems, not bad.

EDIT: Or is it £90 a month? I'm not sure, but that would be well expensive.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm worried that I won't have proper cooking facilities and won't be able to afford fresh fruit / veg and will have to resort to eating pot noodles or something! Gym can't be £90 a month (I hope)....£90 for 7 month sounds good to me.
It was £20 for the summer term so £90 for 7 months sounds about right.

The ULU gym is across the road and has a swimming pool (bit more expensive than the UCL one, naturally)
I havnt been to the gym at the Bloomsbury, but I know where it is. Bang in the middle of everything. It was recently re-done for millions of pounds and is thus quite snazzy if a little small.

I never knew that...

UCL is full of surprises...

When I was on one of my few trips to the library the day of my exam i realise that all my pencils were blunt...

None of my mates had a pencil sharpener...

So i asked at the desk and the guy looked through all the draws and there turned out to be an industrial pencil sharpener plugged in ready to use... which is pretty amazing since there are no computers or photocopiers there

lol... i got a few funny looks using an industrial pencil sharpener in a silent library...

Anywayz, back swiftly on to topic...

gym, gym, gym, gym... i go to the gym but not at UC...

Love and regards, Revenged

You wish... Pot Noodles are a surprisingly expensive source of noodley sustenance!

Asda's Smartprice noodles, on the other hand...
LOLBOMBS

And fruit and veg work out cheaper than than pot noodles.
And make yourself loads od bolognese sauce and buy spaghetti. Feed yourself for a week with £10.
Spag bol for breakfast, spagbol for lunch and spag bol on toast for dinner. YUM!
In Newcastle we just run in the street, for free. I do seven miles every other day or thereabouts. Does London not have streets/parks &c?

It does... but people go to the gym for more than just exercise (in the gym). As it were.

so is there a swimming pool or not?
in the ulu which is next door to UCL, which you can use as a student there is, not in the bloomsbury gym

Is it just me or does 70 pounds for 7 months for a uni gym still sound like a lot of money? =/ I know private gyms are much more expensive, but uni gyms tend to be quite cheap. The gym of my local university is 70 euros a year (around 40 pounds).

Compared to other UK universities it's really not that bad. Considering this is London it's actually pretty well priced.

Yeah well that's the thing. It's London.

Is it really worth it, everything being so damn expensive and all. :s-smilie:

yeh i think its worth it. we'll make the money up later in life! i'm quite pleased about it because my gym at the moment i'm forking out £50 every month for, and I definitely won't be able to afford that next year.

Other thing is, that even compared to the rest of Britain, £70/year is really good value. And, unless you're in Sweden or Switzerland, it's just altogether cheaper to live in Europe than in the UK!
