It's that time I year again when we have to pick our subject choices but this time it is for S6 and I just wanted to know what applied maths consisted of and what the units were, I currently do higher maths and physics just now and got a A in both of the prelims ( band 2) also is the subject hard?

Advanced Higher Applied Mathematics is divided into two different courses; Statistics and Mechanics. Which did you have in mind?
Thanks for the reply I was thinking of mechanics

A friend of mine is wanting to take advanced higher applied maths, the mechanics side and she too does maths and physics and did extremely well in her prelims as far as I know if your wanting to take advanced higher maths (like what she's doing), unit 3 of it is exactly the same for applied maths - you should speak to the head of the maths department they should have more insight to it

I was either going to do
Advanced Applied Maths : Mechanics
Advanced Physics
Higher Graphic Communication
Higher Business Management

Or
Advanced Pure Maths
Advanced Physics
Higher Graphic Communication
Higher Business Management

But I don't know which one would be better or engineering and which one universities value more.

They'll want the second one more. If you're only wanting to do one, pure > applied.

I don't do applied, but I think they'll be around the same difficulty but, I'm almost positive they'd prefer pure maths, especially since more people will do it.
